Fat-Free High Protein French Toast

Fat-Free High Protein French Toast
This recipe is a go to on days I don’t feel like cooking! It takes only minutes to prepare and tastes ah-mazing! I actually preferred this recipe to my previous one with whole eggs! It is super healthy!

So here it is…
-2 pieces of ezekiel bread(*you can sub with any other bread you prefer)
-1/3 cup egg whites
-1/3 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
-1 tsp splenda or other sweetener
-1/4 tsp vanilla
-pinch of salt
-pinch of cinnamon
-pinch of nutmeg(optional)
-1 tsp coconut oil(optional)

*I use coconut oil only on days I need some extra fat, it adds a nice buttery flavor but it is definitely not necessary! The French toast already tastes delicious on its own!

Directions:
Place a pan sprayed with pam on medium heat. In a shallow bowl, whisk together the egg whites, almond milk splenda, vanilla, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg.
Place one piece of bread in the mixture and press down slightly so it absorbs some of the liquid. Flip over and do the same for the other side. If using, put half a tsp of coconut oil in the pan and swirl the pan to coat it. If not just skip this step!
Place the soaked bread in the pan and cook for 1 or 2 minute(until golden brown) and then flip and cook for another 1 to 2 minutes. Repeat for the second piece.

Serve hot with sugar-free maple syrup or more cinnamon and splenda sprinkled on top with some defrosted frozen blueberries/strawberries.
